Position Title: Faculty Research Assistant

Purpose of Position: Support Mid-Atlantic Combined Heat & Power (CHP) Application Center (MAAC), the Industrial Energy Efficiency Programs, and experimental research programs in the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE)

Responsibilities: MAAC and the industrial efficiency programs are outreach efforts that provide support to a wide range of commercial and industrial firms. The selected individual will:

Provide analytical support for CHP feasibility assessments, respond to other requests for assistance on CHP projects, and related studies
Assist in energy audits of industrial facilities
Research and characterize new CHP and related technologies that pertain to energy efficiency that are being introduced to the market
Prepare engineering case studies and project profiles for successful CHP projects
Maintain and expand MAAC’s website
Represent MAAC and the CEEE at conferences and industry meetings
Support additional research projects conducted by the CEEE that relate to the CHP program such as a fuel cell test program

Note that all of these programs are evolving and we anticipate that the scope of work for this position will change accordingly.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 – 5 yrs of experience in the field of CHP, energy efficiency improvement, or related areas. A basic understanding of CHP and energy efficiency improvement methods and the technologies used in these fields is essential.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
